Turn the cover inside out, attach the corners and turn it right side out. Tie the other two ends and button the cover closed.

Martha Stewart sews ribbon to the inside corners of the duvet and to the comforter. Safety pin every few feet, attaching the outside of the comforter to the inside seam of the duvet cover. Then pull the duvet cover down right-side out over the comforter. If it's a nice comforter, use more safety pins, to limit the pull on the fabric containing the down filler.

Turn the duvet cover inside out and lay the down comforter on top of it. If they don't already a simple loop of elastic sown to the duvet and a button sown inside the cover should keep things from bunching up.

Many duvets come with elastic loops or button holes that you can fasten the covers to. Just put one piece on the comforter and the other on the inside of the duvet. Doing this maybe in the corners and in the middle might work. That stuff usually sticks pretty good and you don't have to worry about a pin coming unhooked or snagging you expensive linens. Also if you sew it together your making future changes difficult. Good luck.

I’m thinking that stick on velcro you get from the drug store would work. Just follow the washing directions on the tag.

What ever detergent you use for your other laundry should be fine.
